Billing

Billing FAQ

Q. Why is my first bill so much?

A.  Telecommunication’s services are billed one month in advance.  In order to establish advanced payment for your services it is necessary to prorate a partial month of service, plus the full upcoming 30 day period.

Q. Why does Liberty Bell Telecom bill telecommunications services one month in advance?

A.  All Telecom services are billed in advance regardless of who your carrier is.  We simply follow industry standards and bill in the same manner.

Q. Do I need to pay my bill with the current local service provider?

A. If you have any unpaid bills with your old telephone company, it is probably best to wait for a final pro-rated bill before making another payment to them.  That will avoid a possible over-payment and the inconvenience of waiting for a refund as they have billed you a month in advance as well.

Q.  I just got another bill from my previous local / long distance provider.  Why are they still billing me, I thought I was with Liberty Bell Telecom?

A.  All carriers receive a line loss report from an independent regulatory agency.  When you move your service from one carrier to another your account information will be noted on that line loss report.  The carrier is then responsible for updating their records and stopping their bill to you.  Liberty Bell Telecom will provide its customers with a letter, at the customer’s request, that states the date their local / long distance services were converted to Liberty Bell Telecom.

Q.  I sent a copy of the letter I received from Liberty Bell Telecom, and I am still getting a bill from my previous local / long distance service provider, what should I do?

A.  At this point it would be in the customer’s best interest to contact the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and file a complaint.  The PUC can be reached by calling 1-800-456-0858

Q.  I referred my friend to Liberty Bell Telecom, when will I get my referral credit?

A.  You will receive your credit once your friend’s phone service has been installed.  The credit will appear on your next statement after the completion of your friend’s conversion / installation.

Q.  Is there a fee to switch my service?

A.  If you are a Qwest customer there is no fee to switch your service.

Q.  I ordered a new line, how much will it cost?

A.  Liberty Bell Telecom charges a $50 installation fee for each new line of service.  The customer is still responsible for the wiring from the telephone box to the jacks and phones inside your home.  Liberty Bell Telecom guarantees phone service to the telephone box, but can not guarantee the quality of the wiring inside your home.

Q.  I had Comcast previously, why are my taxes higher?

A.  Comcast adds the Federal Access Charge $6.50 to $7.00 per line into the cost of their packages.  The remaining taxes are about the same; there may be some variation since Comcast has a franchise fee agreement with the local government, which affects the way in which local taxes may be collected.

Q.  What is the fee for Long Distance?

A.  You are only charged for the long distance minutes you use plus a $2.50/mo carrier access fee. Liberty Bell Telecom charges $0.055 cents per minute for intrastate long distance calls and $0.04 cents per minute for interstate long distance calls.   There are additional taxes that apply only to long distance that will be charged if you make long distance phone calls.

Q.  How are Long Distance calls billed?

A.  Your long distance usage will be billed with your Liberty Bell Telecom bill.  Intrastate and Interstate Long Distance calls are billed in 6 second increments with 6 second minimum billing.  All international calls are billed in 60 second increments with a 60 second minimums.  Charges are rounded up to the nearest cent.

Q.  Is there a charge to change my package?

A.  Liberty Bell Telecom will charge an activation or deactivation fee of $20.00 once your account has been established.
